This Cuban Hip-op group from Havana, Cuba makes it way to Howard Theater Friday, August 26, 2016 at 8:00 PM.
     They originally called themselves Amenaza when they started back in 1999. In Spanish the Amenaza means menace or threat. Today they're "Orishas" referring  to the set of deities worshipped in African-based religions in the Americas, like Santería in Cuba and Candomblé in Brazil, resulting from the relocation of Yoruba slaves.

John Oliver first appeared at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe some 15-years ago, as part of The Comedy Zone, a late-night showcase of acts. Oliver played the character "oleaginous journalist."  Oliver eventually collaborated with Andy Zaltzman on a double act and co-hosting Political Animal, performing political satire.

Blues, country and folk singer William Elliott Whitmore makes his way to Washington DC via The Rock and Roll Hotel, Saturday, August 27th, 2016 at 8:00 PM. Whitemore's act consists mostly of playing the banjo or guitar while singing, though on occasion he performs a cappella.
